Successful discussions between Haiti's government and opposition – Prensa Latina

Andre Michel, spokesman for the Democratic and Popular Sector, a platform allied to the Government, assured that they debated calmly and respectfully for three hours with signatories of the Montana Agreement and the Protocol of National Understanding.
Michel did not give details about the exchanges, but he asserted that they will continue discussing with this group and other protagonists of the crisis.
It is the first meeting since May, when the rapprochement between the government and the opposition cooled, and the third since the end of January, after the opposing forces elected a president and prime minister for an eventual interim administration.
The groups mainly disagreed on the establishment of a transition, promoted by the opponents, while the authorities advocate for a legitimate electoral process that allows the renewal of the mandates of public officials.
Meanwhile, the crisis in the country is increasing with the rise of clashes between armed gangs that killed 89 people and caused 16 going missing in less than a week, while kidnappings and murders are increasing in the capital’s metropolitan area.
Several voices called for the need for an inclusive agreement to stop the destabilization of the country and allow the recovery of the economy, foreign investment, implementation of social programs and fight insecurity.
