Bridging the gap
CAP-HAITIEN — Haiti’s largest northern city celebrated its 352nd anniversary with a slew of art and cultural activities to highlight tourism and development opportunities across the Cap-Haitien region.
The annual Fét Okap celebration kicked off Aug. 12 on The Boulevard, the city’s main street, with events that drew revelers from all over, including the diaspora. The activities showcased vendors and artisans, arts and crafts and music. Attendees enjoyed cultural entertainment, local food dishes and produce and traditional children’s games.
The festivities included an entrepreneurial Fair of Youngsters, a food fair, all-white Dîner en Blanc affair, a Miss Haiti pageant and a book fair, “Livre au Féminin,”’that highlighted women writers.
