Rhonda Pierre moved to Haiti five years ago to open a physical therapy clinic, but as that nation has deteriorated into lawlessness, she closed the facility and sent her U.S. employees home.
She stayed behind because her husband, Frandy, a native Haitian, could not come with her. She is hoping the U.S. government can help clear the way so the couple can escape to safety.
