MIAMI — The United States Coast Guard stopped an illegal voyage to the United States Tuesday morning.
The crew of the Venturous cutter stopped a ramshackle vessel 17 miles north of Punta Maisi, Cuba.
89 Haitians were on board the boat, including 53 males and 36 females, among those were several children.
Photos from the Coast Guard show a crew member hoisting a little girl to safety aboard the cutter.

A press release provided by the USCG details the magnitude of the effort to flee Haiti.
Since Oct. 1, 2021, Coast Guard crews have interdicted 3,127 Haitian migrants compared to: 
“Families are voluntarily asking to come off these unsafe vessels because the risk for loss of life is great,” said Petty Officer Nicole J. Groll, Coast Guard District Seven public affairs.
A dolphin was caught on camera attacking a trainer during a performance at Miami Seaquarium on Saturday.
