Book by Bismarck teacher from Haiti hopes to inspire students – KFYR

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) – Ricardo Pierre-Louis is a Bismarck teacher and author of the book, “Hunger for Hope.” It details Pierre-Louis’ life in Haiti and his pursuit to be a soccer star.
The Waters for South Sudan Club at Horizon Middle School says they’ve become a “sister school” to an academy in Haiti. The club read his book and invited him to visit to discuss his upbringing and how they can help the academy through awareness and fundraising.
“We just really want to help them because after hearing everything that happens to them in the book it sounds like they’re really going through a hard time. We just don’t want people to go through that”, said Greyson Riegel, a 7th Grader at Horizon.
Pierre-Louis teaches at Bismarck High School and his desire to teach stems from his hope that his students won’t have the same hardships his parents endured.
