Bridging the gap
G9 Family and Allies gang leader Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier was in stable condition Thursday after being shot during a gun battle.
Cherizier, a former police officer turned criminal mastermind, was in a skirmish with Ti Gabriel’s gang, a rival, in Cité Soleil when he was shot Wednesday. He was reportedly in stable condition as of late Thursday.
It was initially reported that Cherizier was treated at a Doctors Without Borders facility in Martissant, Port-au-Prince but the facility later denied it.
Cherizier has been accused of leading several massacres including the 2018 La Saline massacre which the United States sanctioned him for in December. The Haitian police also issued a wanted notice for Cherizier after the La Saline massacre. Source
