As a Haitian-American who truly understands the country’s rich history, actor and R&B singer Rob Murat has chosen to use his platform to help shed light on the amazing potential that lies within Haiti and its people even during its darkest moments.
Collaborating with internationally-renowned dancehall artist Jupitar, Murat introduces a new single entitled “FLY AWAY” as a universal call to action in order to inspire listeners to tap into their deepest impulses and go after their dreams. Partnered with a captivating video shot in NYC, “FLY AWAY” features portions of dance that were submitted by people from the US to the Caribbean and even from several African countries. Its international vibe is meant to unite us on a more human level as they dance their way to the finish line. The cultural diversity of the video comes paired with a new side of Murat where he sings a verse entirely in Haitian Creole of which he is fluent, urging the people of Haiti to “Rise Up!” during some of its most turbulent times.
Dancehall artist Jupitar is a recipient of Best Dancehall Act at the NELAS Awards U.K., besting the likes of Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Burna Boy and Ptoranking. He has shared stages with notable artists such as Busy Signal, Mavado and DeMarco and his debut album ‘The One’ was released in March to much acclaim. Paired with Rob’s versatility, there’s no denying the true power of this timeless collaboration.
Rob, who plays Coach Ron in Netflix’s hit series “On My Block” has also made guest appearances on the FOX TV series Bones and has acted opposite Academy Award winner Halle Berry in the CBS TV series Extant, executive produced by Steven Spielberg. Rob is also the narrating voice of a series of ESPN TV campaigns and various nationally televised award ceremonies. Neither one of this dynamic duo can be stopped from reaching for the stratosphere, and their new single hits home with a strong message, one that should and hopefully will motivate people around the world to stand up for what they truly believe in.
